Over the last several weeks I have had six recorded phone calls from people representing themselves as employees of the Department of Social Security.
What they will say in a very authoritative tone is that your social security account is being investigated for fraud. They will then give you a phone number to call to learn more of your case.
The caller may be a woman indentifying herself as being in the legal department or it may be a man saying he is an officer pursuing your case.
Whatever you do, DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER THEY GIVE YOU.
These calls are extremely frightening to listen to and the first thought is to call them to find out the status of your case.
However, when you call them they will ask for all kinds of personal information, most importantly your social security number. With this information they will rob you of everything they can. I repeat, DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER THEY GIVE YOU.
Instead, call your local Social Security Office. Right away you will hear a recording telling you that Social Security does not make threats over the phone!
When you talk to someone, tell them your situation and if possible give them the phone number the recording referred you to. It is likely that they will give you the number of their Inspector General to call with your complaint.
These hyenas are the worst sort of predators who frighten old people, widows, widowers, and the confused, and then leave them to die impoverished.
“He has said in his heart, ‘I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.’ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is trouble and iniquity. He sits in the lurking places of the villages; in the secret places he murders the innocent; his eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless. He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor when he draws him into his net. So he crouches, he lies low, that the helpless may fall by his strength [or mighty minions].” Psalm 10:6-10.
They will burn in hell for eternity unless they repent because the Lord God hears the cries of the innocent!
“But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; seek out his wickedness until You find none.” Psalm 10:14-15.
This suggestion is especially for the Christian whenever you receive anything that alarms you always go to the Lord in prayer immediately, lay out the problem before Him and take comfort that He will help.
I might also suggest that every time the problem comes to your mind take it again to the Lord in prayer and lay it at His feet, every time.
“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation.” Psalm 68:5.
If you are not a Christian I suggest that you turn to God and ask Him how to become one.
“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” 1 John 1:5-10.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” John 3:16-20.
However you feel about this post, please heed the warning, DO NOT CALL any numbers given to you in a frightening or unfamiliar phone call.
The same could also be said of strange e-mails, do not open attachments from someone you do not know, nor respond to frightening statements like, you are being investigated, or your bank account has been accessed by an unknown source, and so on.
This is called phishing. Another new scam is called vishing which is similar only it is done through your phone.
The newer fancier phones can hold a lot of your private information, so, once again, do not call any number that they give you but call or go to your bank directly or to Social Security. Never trust a number they give you, never!
One piece of advice sounds like a good idea. Let all your calls go to voicemail. Often if they cannot get a live answer, they will hang up without leaving a message.
Incidentally this also works on many annoying robo-calls. This method helps you screen your calls more effectively.
Never ever give out any personal information to unknown or questionable sources. Even your mother’s maiden name can be used against you. Never, never, never!
Always call or visit your bank or Social Security Office if someone scares you.
Your local police department will also have an information or non-emergency line for your questions. Remember, 911 is for emergencies only, not day to day questions.
Please spread these warnings around among your friends, associates, or organizations. You do not have to reference this blog, but, please warn folks about these scams.
