“Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, ‘You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.’ Then they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. And many of the people believed in Him, and said, ‘When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?’” John 7:28-31.
“If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.” John 5:31-35.
The woman of Samaria’s sinful lifestyle of having had five husbands and then living with another man may mislead us but her conversation shows that underneath there is an intelligent, seeking, woman.
Her sinful lifestyle should be elaborated on before continuing. Put anyone before the Lord and there will be some sin that they would not like to have brought up. It does not matter who you are, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.
