Psalm 100:3
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.” Psalm 100:1-2.
Psalm 100:1-2
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!” Psalm 100:1.
The words, “A Psalm of Thanksgiving” are actually below the title “Psalm 100” in your Bible, though in the old King James it is rendered, “A Psalm of Praise” which, as stated in another post, is a part of the psalm.
You will find openings like this in other psalms, such as, a psalm of David, or a psalm of Asaph, and sometimes there may be instructions to the music leader; so do not completely ignore these opening titles, they often give you a hint of how to interpret the psalm.
These first words in verse one give us the setting for this psalm, we are squarely in the millennium. The world has been purged of evil.
In fact one notation on the words “all you lands” Psalm 100:1b renders these words as “all the earth”. A further indication that this is a reference to the millennium since all the earth has never been joyful.
All godless men who oppose God and subjugate, oppress and victimize men women and children have been turned into hell.
Satan has been chained and he and his evil army of fallen angels have been cast into the abyss. The entire world is at peace.
This is what is meant by “make a joyful shout…” the peace which the world has craved for so many centuries has come. The shout is to the Lord Jesus in joyous praise – by Israelites and Gentiles, all of the lands with no exceptions.
“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.” Psalm 100: 2.
While this psalm is millennial that does not mean that both the Jews in the Old Testament times and the Christian of today are not also to do the same.
Recently a Muslim imam was asked about worshipping Allah, his reply was Muslims do not worship Allah, they serve him. They serve him out of fear, not love.
They strap bombs to their children, cut off the heads of unbelievers, and pillage, torture, rape, and murder innocent people because worldwide jihad was declared in 1979, and they must serve him.
Jihad will not stop until every person has been converted under penalty of death, or murdered, and every Jew on earth has been killed. Yes, that is correct, every Jew. It does not matter if you happen to be an American Jew, a French Jew, or born in Israel, you are a Jew under Muslim sentence of death.
So take off the rose colored glasses and face reality; being six thousand miles away from the Middle East will make no difference when they cross our borders here in numbers.
But we, whether Christian or Jew who has accepted Christ as Savior, serve Jesus out of love not compulsion or threat. The knowledge that Jesus died for all of our sins past, present, and future, and did something we were incapable of doing ourselves fills us with a desire to serve Him.
We serve Him, not by cutting off heads, torturing people, or by going on crusades.
Those things were done in the name of Christ in the dark ages by the same sort of ungodly men who kill and torture in the name of Allah in the Middle East today and have for centuries.
Granted there were many sincere men who wished to serve God who entered the crusades, but they were duped by evil or naïve unsaved church leaders.
It is the sons of Satan who manipulated their way into the early Christian church who committed the atrocities of the dark ages, torturing, and killing Christians, Jews, and anyone who disagreed with them.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a man [Jesus] who sowed good seed [sons of the kingdom] in his field; but while men slept, his enemy [Satan the devil] came and sowed tares [sons of the devil] among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers [angels], “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them [in hell], but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” Matthew 13:24b-30.
The Lord Jesus explains the meaning of this parable in Matthew 13:36-43.
I sternly warn you, these sons of the devil are still perverting the church today and they are not above perpetrating the same horrors in our time as they did in the Dark Ages.
Beware of anyone who comes into your church and gives you anything other than the pure, simple, gospel of Jesus Christ.
“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9.
So then, the Christian serves the Lord Jesus Christ with gladness, gratitude, and thanksgiving, knowing what a tremendous eternal debt was paid by the Lord for our sakes.
Those who belong to Christ do not have to fear serving a god, who in the end may decide to cast them into hell anyway because they did not do good enough.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
