The woman of Samaria’s sinful lifestyle of having had five husbands and then living with another man may mislead us but her conversation shows that underneath there is an intelligent, seeking, woman.
Her sinful lifestyle should be elaborated on before continuing. Put anyone before the Lord and there will be some sin that they would not like to have brought up. It does not matter who you are, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14.
“Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly. And he said: ‘I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, and He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and You heard my voice.’” Jonah 2:1-2.
“Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, ‘Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.’ But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. But the Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.” Jonah 1:1-4.
