Truth of the Gospel, Colossians Introduction

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Colossians 1:1-2.

Most expositors believe that this letter, written by the Apostle Paul, was composed during his first imprisonment in Rome.

Your Faith and Love

1 Thessalonians 3

“Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone, and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.” 1 Thessalonians 3: 1-4.

The history of this first landing in Europe during the second missionary journey of the Apostle Paul is given in Acts 16:11-17:34. While there were other stops made after these, this is all we will concern ourselves with at this time.
