Psalm 94:4-5

“O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs – O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth! Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render punishment to the proud. Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?” Psalm 94:1-3.

These three verses were the subject of the last study of Psalm 94, published on 2-20-23. They have been included here to maintain continuity for the reader.

“They utter speech, and speak insolent things; all the workers of iniquity boast in themselves. They break in pieces Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.” Psalm 94:4-5.

Again, this psalm is about the suffering of the Jews and the saints during the last great period of Gentile rule over all the earth, the tribulation.

The tribulation will last for a period of seven years before Christ returns to rule the earth in peace, justice, and righteousness.

Scripture tells us that Christ’s rule shall be an everlasting rule because the millennium will flow (segue) into eternity and the new heaven and new earth, see Revelation chapter 20 through 21:8.

“They utter speech, and speak insolent things…” Psalm 94:4a refers to the godless during the tribulation.

“And he [Antichrist] was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months [3½ years]. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.” Revelation 13:5-6.

Both the godless and the Antichrist will blaspheme God, and curse His saints, because all restraint has been taken out, and they perceive this as a victory against a toothless God.

But they are just measuring out a length of rope to hang themselves with.

In 701 B.C. the Assyrians who had carried off the northern kingdom of Israel about 21 years earlier, attempted to conquer Judah, they then came to the walls of Jerusalem and surrounded her.

The king of Assyria sent a Rabshakeh (a title for Chief of Staff or Governor) to stand before the walls and speaking in Hebrew he presented his demands to the people of Judah.

“Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, ‘The Lord [Yahweh] will deliver us.’ Has any one of the gods of the nations delivered its land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Indeed, have they delivered Samaria [idolatrous northern Israel] from my hand? Who among all the gods of these lands have delivered their countries from my hand, that the Lord [Yahweh] should deliver Jerusalem from my hand?” Isaiah 36:18-20.

Rabshakeh knowingly used the covenant name of the Lord God, Yahweh, knowingly defying the Lord of all the earth. King Hezekiah went into mourning and presented the Assyrian demand before God, part of God’s reply is below, see all of it in Isaiah 37:14-38.

“Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria [Sennacherib 704-681 B.C.]: ‘He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor build a siege mound against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return; and he shall not come into this city,’ says the Lord. ‘For I will defend this city, to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’ Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses – all dead. So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went away, returned home, and remained at Nineveh. Now it came to pass, as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Then Esarhaddon [680-669 B.C.] his son reigned in his place.” Isaiah 37:33-38.

God has brought down many a nation that rejected Him. And these dead nations had given glory to those things which are not gods, but demons.

The Antichrist is coming, he is on his way, his mouth will boast, his Satanic power will be nearly limitless, and his cruelty, without peer.

But his reign will be short and his fate in the lake of fire will be worse than anything he would have done to those whom he will persecute.

There are only two men who are referred to as the son of perdition in Scripture, Judas Iscariot who betrayed the Lord Jesus and the Antichrist who will fight against the Lord Jesus Christ when He returns to rule the earth.

Other than Satan and his fallen angels, I cannot think of two more burdened souls to writhe for eternity in the lake of fire.

“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast [Antichrist] rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?’ And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months [3 ½ years, second half of 7 year tribulation]. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Revelation 13:1-7.

How clearly these passages in the book of Revelation fulfill the words in Psalm 94, “They utter speech, and speak insolent things; all the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.” Psalm 94:4.

Today, we see and hear boastful and insolent things coming out the mouths of those in power in our government as they ignore our Constitution and run roughshod over our rights.

Even the nations ignore the holocaust in the Middle East and invite terrorists into their nations and governments as if it would build peace in the world.

The following is the Muslim Brotherhood Credo.

“Allah is our objective, the Koran is our law, the prophet is our leader jihad is our way, and dying for the sake of Allah is our highest hope.”

They will not succeed but they are a foretaste of the horrors of the tribulation for those who have not accepted Christ as their Savior before He removes His own from the earth.

The evil deeds and boasts of ISIS and the rest of the Army of Islam can be seen described here in Psalm 94:4-5 as well as in the following verses, six through seven.

“They break in pieces Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.” Psalm 94:5.

“They break in pieces Your people, O Lord…” Your people is a reference to the Jews, anti-Semitism is growing at an alarming rate even in America.

People who know nothing of the Jews hate them for no reason at all. Truly, there is a reason, it is a demonic hatred:

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.

Satan manipulates the masses even more than I would like to admit, but it is true. You might say, “Well why would God allow that?” The answer is quite simple; when folks turn away from following God, they turn to something, Satan; we do not live in a vacuum.

God is not going to rip your arm out of its socket jerking you around to follow Him again. The choice of who to follow is ours to make.

There is a Bible in nearly every household in this country and probably nearly as many in Europe, yet they gather dust. Whose fault is that, God or the negligent householder?

Many people are just negligent, lazy, or rebellious, and their families suffer the consequences. To gauge just how stubborn men are, go back and read the quote from Isaiah 37:33-38 again.

Notice that the king of Assyria woke up one morning to find that 185,000 of his soldiers are all dead, and instead of scratching his head and saying, “Why that is curious, did the God of Israel do this impossible thing? Is He trying to tell me something?”

He actually went home only to be slain while worshipping in the temple of his god Nisroch. This is stupidity, brutish, boneheaded stupidity.

During the tribulation, Jews will be afflicted, persecuted, to death with the intent of killing every last one. This is the goal of Islam today; both Christians and Jews are in deadly peril now, as they will be during the tribulation.

After the rapture it will not matter if you are a Jew, or become a Christian, or if you are just a good moral person.

You will be in constant peril, vilified no matter what your race, enslaved, brutalized, murdered or die in disaster or warfare. There will be no “happy place” during the tribulation!

“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.” Proverbs 22:3.
