“Then He also said to the multitudes, ‘Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, “A shower is coming”; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, “There will be hot weather”; and there is. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?’” Luke 12:54-56
As you can see the above words were spoken to a multitude of folks who were following Jesus.
He was answering a question that was on the minds of the nation of Israel; who is this man, a prophet, an imposter, the Prophet spoken of by Moses, Deuteronomy 18:15, Acts 3:22-23, Acts:7:37 (the Prophet is Jesus), or the Messiah?
The Lord Jesus sums the above passage up as follows, “Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?”
Jesus calls these persons hypocrites because they learned how to judge the weather through the most common of observations, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is.”
Yet, an entire nation, due to their ignorance, or willful blindness did not recognize their Messiah (Jesus Christ) when He came according to the Scriptures with many signs and wonders and presented Himself to the nation of Israel as their long-awaited Messiah.
The Apostle Paul gives us his testimony concerning the validity of Jesus Christ’s claims:
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures…” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.
It becomes plain that Jesus is referring to His authority here on earth when He says, “You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?” This time means the time of God’s Son who presented Himself as their Messiah.
This presents a message to us too. Jesus is returning to this earth soon to take away all Christians. We too must know the times and seasons of His return.
The thing that confirms this is that Jesus wanted the children of Israel to search the Scriptures to recognize Him at His coming to earth the first time.
This was also indicated when He chided the religious leaders of His day for not recognizing that He is the promised Messiah which they were looking for and should have recognized by their studies of the prophecies in the Old Testament.
“Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, ‘When it is evening you say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is red”; and in the morning, “It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.” Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.’ And He left them and departed.” Matthew 16:1-4.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:1-7.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come”, while many places in the New Testament describe the end times which will follow the rapture (removal) of the church, bringing on 7 years of tribulation a time of total lawlessness on the entire earth.
This passage in 2 Timothy chapter 3 is very explicit and only some of the things prophesied will be mentioned here to give us an idea of how short the time is before these things take place.
“For men will be lovers of themselves”, many of these people are called Karens because their opinion is law and if you disagree, they will scream and even assault you.
During a ballgame a man retrieved a homerun ball and gave it to his son for his birthday. A Karen immediately came over and committed battery by grabbing the man’s arm and harangued him claiming that it was her ball, finally the man gave her the ball to shut her up.
This woman exhibited three other signs of wickedness, “without self-control, brutal, despisers of good”.
Too many of our liberal politicians exhibit the following characteristics: “unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong”.
They are unthankful because they do not care about their constituents who trusted them and voted to have them represent their best interests.
Liberal politicians, the mainstream media and those who support them are, unholy, unloving,
unforgiving, slanderers” toward all who disagree with them.
Unholy because they hate God and Christians or are hypocrites when it comes to religion. During the last administration they even threw Christians in prison for praying at abortion clinics.
They are unloving because they were joyful and even cheered when Charlie Kirk was murdered. Liberals are exceedingly hateful, and do not try to hide their demonic disdain for those who disagree with them.
They are unforgiving as seen when they take offense over something and weep and howl over the insensitivity of the one who offended them.
Then the media picks it up and blows it way out of proportion until the offender whether guilty or not, gives up and apologizes to the offended. But there is no forgiveness, and they accuse their poor victim of being a racist, Islamophobe, or xenophobe and so it goes on – there is no forgiveness, and there will be none!
They are slanderers, in fact, they are habitual liars with corrupt minds they are incapable of telling the truth.
These twisted individuals accuse those they are at enmity with of the most outrageous things, and the young and gullible believe them and begin to assimilate their demonic rantings.
The young victims of the liberals are, “without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong”.
Years ago, a young man walked into a poolhall and shot an unarmed man because the victim disrespected him. You do not kill someone for offending you, but the murderer was, “without self-control” and unfit to be respected by anyone.
In Washington D.C. a young man who worked for DOGE was badly beaten by a group of thugs who used to dominate the streets of the Capitol. All over the nation the streets are infested with, “brutal” men, and women.
Liberals and their followers are filled with hatred and are, “despisers of good”. No matter how many illegal aliens are removed from this country, these hateful people try to stop the export of rapist, pedophiles, murderers, child sex traffickers, and thieves, even to point of rioting and disturbing the peace while mayors order their police officers to stand by and do nothing.
Governors, mayors, and judges commit treason continually when they try to block the government from reversing the flow of illegals into this country in order to re-establish the rule of law which is plainly detailed in our U.S. Constitution. These are “traitors” of the worst sort because they have power.
Liberals do not take advice from anyone because they are, “headstrong” and so self-centered that they alone know what is best for this country and the world since the world is falling apart because of their stiff-necked vacuous ideology.
This is not an ideology of communism or of socialism as they are often accused of being, but these leftist liberals are teaching doctrines of demons.
As impoverished, murderous and oppressive as socialism and communism are, people can survive, though in misery.
Doctrines of demons are different; the intent is not to bring in a Utopian society as these other philosophies promise, they are designed to corrupt and destroy every society they infiltrate.
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron…” 1 Timothy 4:1-2.
Think of it, these people become so deluded by heeding “deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons”, that their own conscience becomes “seared with a hot iron”. It is around this point that God gives them over to a debased mind:
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting…” Romans 1:28.
A “debased mind” is literally a mind that does not work! Consider that carefully.
These servants of Satan teach children that there is nothing wrong with perversity, to accept homosexuality as a normal option they want to mutilate girls and boys to change their sex. Having perverted their minds, they teach them to hate God and Christians, and to mock the death of good men like Charlie Kirk and to attack moral people.
This is why they have taken over school curriculum and changed history books, made math so confusing that the average child gives up, and dumbed down reading to the point where literacy is nearly non-existent. Finally, they teach our children not to reason, but to obey those who rule over them.
This is why mayors and governors fight for the illegal aliens in their sanctuary cities, rather than for their own taxpaying citizens. They are like unreasoning beasts, they have no code, no shame, no pity, only self-centered greed and avarice.
“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master [Jesus Christ] of the house is coming – in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning – lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” Mark 13:35-37.
