Psalm 138:6

“Yes, they [kings] shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.” Psalm 138:5.

Kings, and all of mankind will sing of the Lord’s ways and glorify Him above all of creation during His thousand-year reign on the earth and then into the eternal state when time is no more, see Revelation chapters 19-22.

“Though the Lord is on high, yet He regards the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.” Psalm 138:6.

There is a song that lifts Jesus up as the “Humble King”. Have you ever considered that Jesus, the most powerful Man to walk this earth is humble? Have you ever considered that God the Father who is seated on a throne in heaven is humble?

“The Lord is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?” Psalm 113:4-6.

Jesus Christ is God come to earth in the form of a man, He humbled Himself even while He was abused and rejected by fallen mankind; even to point of death on a cross.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.’  Philip said to Him, ‘Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.’  Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” John 14:6-9.

God is not only omniscient, but He ponders all of mankind’s ways:

“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths.” Proverbs 5:21.

The following statement by Bildad, a so-called friend of Job’s who is trying to find fault in Job for the harsh trial he is going through, see Job chapters 25 and 26.

“How then can man be righteous before God? Or how can he be pure who is born of a woman? If even the moon does not shine, and the stars are not pure in His sight, how much less man who is a maggot, and a son of man, who is a worm?” Job 25:4-6.

Even though Bildad’s motives are wrong, I believe his statement is a good assessment of the condition of mankind and the humble God who loves us and gave His Son Jesus as a holy sacrifice to cleanse everyone who will accept Him as their Savior.

We are pure in Jesus. God who seeks a holy and pure people will comfort the humble and contrite heart, and they will dwell in His presence for eternity.

“For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” Isaiah 57:15.

“… [Jesus] said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 18:3-4.

God desires humility in a nation also:

“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,  if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14.

These words were given to all the nation of Israel, but eventually they rejected them altogether and now they are in the perilous state you see today. Unless we heed these words carefully, America is headed down this path too unless we repent and humbly seek God in Jesus Christ whole-heartedly.

“Whatever may your virtues be, oh cultivate humility; be unobtrusive, meek, retired; seek to be useful, not admired.” Anon.
