Psalm 138:4-5

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.” Psalm 138:3.

“All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, when they hear the words of Your mouth. Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.” Psalm 138:4-5.

Psalm 138:3 has been included to maintain context because it shows some of the reason for King David’s testimony to the kings around him about his love for the Creator of all things.

“All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, when they hear the words of Your mouth.” Such a statement sounds a bit ludicrous, and it would be if it were not a prophetic word from God Himself.

However, even during King David’s lifetime he was able to give witness to the kings around him by his actions and his godly witness among the people, but the fulfillment of this prophecy really came through David’s son King Solomon.

“And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.” 2 Chronicles 9:23.

Two of those rulers who heard and learned from Solomon are shown below.

“Now Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, because he heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father, for Hiram had always loved David.” 1 Kings 5:1.

“Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions. She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart. So Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing so difficult for the king that he could not explain it to her.  And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her. Then she said to the king: “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom.  However I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard.  Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!  Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.” 1 Kings 10:1-9.

These are powerful witnesses to the glory and the grace of God, promising blessings to all nations who followed Him during the Old Testament period before the advent of the Lord Jesus Christ.

There was another day coming after the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose on the third day, see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

He then sent His disciples into the whole world with His gospel (good news) to be heard by kings and commoners throughout the entire world, as stated by the Apostle Paul in Romans 1:8. That good news has been carried into the whole world even to this day.

“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.” Romans 1:8.

As Scripture says concerning the salvation of those who believe that Jesus died to take away our sins:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Jesus has promised to return one day soon to take every Christian out of the world to be with Him forever, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. This event is called the rapture and will soon take place, leaving the unbelievers and ungodly wicked people behind to endure 7 years of tribulation.

Then there will come a time when the world will go insane with evil, during the great tribulation, see, Mark 13:19-20 and Matthew 24:21-22.

If you have seen the recent pictures of Paris burning, 5-30-26, you will get a rough idea of a world on fire. Call out to the Lord and accept Jesus as your Savior (see John 3:16 shown earlier) and escape the worst of nightmares.

At the end of the tribulation, and after the violent death of billions of people through war and cataclysmic events like earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, plagues, famines and inflation beyond imagination. Jesus Christ will return to the earth and make war against the murderous rulers of the earth.

At the end of the war known as the battle of Armageddon Jesus Christ will set up His own worldwide kingdom of righteousness for a thousand years, at the end of which we will begin the eternal state when time will be no more, see Revelation chapter 19 through 22.

“Give the king Your judgments, O God, and Your righteousness to the king’s Son.  He will judge Your people with righteousness, and Your poor with justice.” Psalm 72:1-2.

The righteous judgment that Psalm 72:1-2 speaks of begins when the Lord Jesus Christ starts to set up His thousand-year earthly kingdom as indicated in the passage below. For the full passage see Matthew 25:31-46.

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.  All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.” Matthew 25:31-32.

This is the beginning of the complete of fulfillment of King David’s prophecy in Psalm 138:4-5 when the Lord Jesus will be praised for a thousand years, and then on into eternity.

“All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, when they hear the words of Your mouth. Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.” Psalm 138:4-5.

The last sentence in verse 5 above states as follows: “Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.”

Not just the kings, but all men will sing of the ways of the Lord when they see the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ as He leads the world with a strong but utterly just hand, His gentleness, and the kind words that He speaks as He teaches all men the ways of God.

Yes, when Jesus rules for a thousand years all the earth will be at peace and mankind will realize that it was the sin nature in all of us that brought the warfare and destruction soon to engulf this world. It is true that Satan the Devil lies and deceives us, yet mankind is a willing and eager dupe in all things evil.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6.
