“Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22.
This is an appeal from the Creator of everything calling every son and daughter from Adam and Eve to the present to turn to Him and be saved from eternal ruin, separation from God in hell.
God hates sin, not the sinner, but He cannot have sin in His presence, so He gives us a means to rid ourselves of the guilt of sin.
It is by the shed blood of God the Son Jesus Christ that our sins – all of them can be washed away simply by accepting God’s gift to those who will accept Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. For anyone who turns from their sinful ways and to God who loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sakes.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
This is a powerful statement, Jesus Christ paid for our sins, that we might become the righteousness of God in Jesus.
The shed blood of Jesus Christ is powerful enough to give us a righteousness fit to bring us into the very presence of an infinitely Holy and righteous God.
The process is simple; listen, learn and receive God’s words in the Scriptures:
“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me [Jesus].” John 6:45.
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:37-40.
Many folks think that they can get to heaven by doing good works or keeping the Ten Commandments. While this is commendable before men, it is not before God. It is not possible to be as pure and sinless as God.
If it were possible to work our way to heaven Jesus would not have needed to die on the cross. God the Son’s death on the cross tells us how infinitely great the cost was to pay for all of our sins.
“Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:20-26.
The amazing thing about this passage is that God not only said, “Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight” indicating the hopelessness of our position before God.
But then He tells us that what we could not do God the Son Jesus stepped in, “to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” God’s Son paid the debt that we could not hope to pay.
Having said all this, we can see how much God did for our sakes by sacrificing His Son on the cross, see Matthew chapters 26-28 and Mark, Luke and John for more. And what does God ask of us?
“And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.” 1 John 3:23.
As believers in Christ Jesus the Holy Spirit comes into our heart to guide us into all truth.
“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Proverbs 30:5.
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16.
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8.
“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” Proverbs 12:25.
“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:9-10.
God who gave His only begotten Son to save all who will come to Him tells us to rest in Him when times are bad. When troubles surround us, we are to turn to Jesus our Savior and lay our burdens at His feet. And leave them there.
“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” Psalm 62:5-8.
The last sentence above tells us to, “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” God who gave so much for us, how can He not watch over us and care for us, for He tells us in Hebrews 13:5b, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Both in the passage above and later below God tells us He is our refuge, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” We will not feel as though this is possible unless we trust the word of God, through study, prayer and fellowship with godly brothers and sisters.
This is a promise, but to trust everything to Jesus we must honestly believe His promises are true.
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah” Psalm 46:1-3.
“…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.
